According to the Alsat TV station, the DUI party is about to significantly increase its share in lucrative public sector companies as part of Zoran Zaev’s planned purge and reconstruction of the Government.
The Albanian language TV station reports that DUI will lose the Public Procurement Bureau, the Foreign Investment Agency, the Macedonian Roads company, the Macedonian Railways and the Mother Teresa Clinic, whose DUI appointed director was recently in the press over the nationalist and militant imagery she was sharing.
But, in return for these seats, the ethnic Albanian party will make significant gains. ELEM – the public owned cash cow – will be given to DUI, along with another cash rich public energy company – MEPSO. Another gain for DUI, according to Alsat, will be the Innovation Fund, which has, under the Zaev Government, openly given significant funds to politically linked applicants.
The announcement that DUI may gain major, financially strong public companies, comes at a time when the normally untouchable party had an important official arrested for fraud involving EU funds.
Although, Zaev’s promised purge is still uncertain. Depending on the outcome of the European Council talks, Zaev announced that he may resign and call for early elections.
